@bballbreakdown Don’t think it’s black and white. Full court on ball def - yes this is important and should be a bigger focus when off has a lot of space. Half court on ball d - if you can guard to dribbles to the R/L you can slide more often than not. Both need to focus on keeping hips squared
@4EvrStormo@JoshuaMedley6@TheHoopHerald Not at Duke. They play a pro level style. Thats part of their allure to players and why they continue to fill their staff with ex-pro coaches
The social media jokes about the HS and AAU transfer portal is a sick joke. AAU coaches guiding parents to NEW HS coaches, then saying, “I will not be a part of this. I don’t do this sort of thing.” And vice versa.
MOVE FOR BETTER. I understand. But did you MAXIMIZE THE NOW?
Players/parents (mainly) chase the hype in HS and MS because they know it won’t follow beyond those years. That will be the most attention they will get from basketball. Playing in meaningless tournaments, chasing hype, instead of training and working on their game. #NoVision
@JohnCarrier42@TerryBattenberg@tonywmiller@BBallImmersion I would work on specific space creation skills they’d need like punch drags/bounce backs, changing pace, simple 1 move attacking skills, team spacing, and ball advancement via the pass. 1v1 to 4v4 FC, same drill but dribble limits.
@mar5hallhoops How guys can’t/refuse to count numbers in transition and get the ball to the 2v1 is beyond me. Makes no sense wanting to play vs evenly matched numbers (2v2) when you can get it to a 2v1 and make the game easier.
@IsaiahSykes_3 It takes time. Back in the day many coaches taught motion so when you got a kid they had a foundation in it. Nowadays you get a kid and you have to balance trying to win and do what’s successful for where the kids are at with the time it takes to build them there.
@TripleDoubleXO The answer is always it depends; what does your team need?
On air drills - high skill acquisition/low game transfer
Guided Off/Def - good skill acquisition/good decision making
SSG’s - less skill acquisition/good decision making/high game transfer
@TripleDoubleXO@samfranklinbbal Took a book from Hurley’s page and we’re doing all offense in the summer. Transition, hc triggers, spacing shapes, action reads, etc. All defense starts in the fall. Would rather have a defense that needs to catch up than offense.
