Hakeem Jeffries today:
“The ghost of the Confederacy has afflicted the Supreme Court majority and is invading and haunting the nation right now.”
Louisiana cancelled a live election to erase Black voters.
Tennessee eliminated majority-Black Memphis in one vote.
Florida flipped 4 seats with new maps. Alabama got Supreme Court approval.
South Carolina eliminated Clyburn’s seat.
Virginia’s voter-approved map struck down 4-3.
Six states. Same week. Same playbook.
Jeffries is right.

D.L. HUGHLEY: “I don’t understand why a 4/5 star athlete would go to a school where the state is ushering in a new iteration of Jim Crow… if you can’t run in a state, don’t run in a state.” #Memphis#Louisiana#Tennessee#Alabama@GovBillLee@MarshaBlackburn
Yall remember Kylin Hill? This brother was a major turning point in the flag's removal. In June 2020, #MississippiStateUniversity running back Kylin Hill tweeted: "Either change the flag or I won't be representing this State anymore & I meant that .. I'm tired".
Hill, a #Mississippi native and one of the top rushers in the #SEC at the time, issued this threat directly in response to #Governor Tate Reeves' initial hesitation to support a new flag design. His stance sparked a massive wave of support
Pressure on #Leadership: His tweet went viral and put immediate pressure on state legislators and #university officials to take a definitive stand.
Widespread Support: Other athletes and coaches—including those from #OleMiss—publicly backed him, as did the SEC and #NCAA.
Resulting Change: Lawmakers passed the bill to retire the old flag just days after Hill's ultimatum. Hill was later honored by his hometown for his role in the historic change.
While Hill stayed and played for a portion of the 2020 season, his threat is widely credited with accelerating the legislative process to remove the Confederate emblem.
With the dismantling of the black voting rights in the South Black athletes in the SEC could really redistribute the pain with over $470 million!!!
Just saying…
Everyone needs to watch @Justinjpearson's floor speech from the TN State House.
"Today, you will take the only Black-majority district from us. But I want you to know: No matter what you do, no matter how much you try to break us & make us bend & quit — we will still be here."
