HC/DC/Linebackers - Defense Sets the Tone!

[Coach Spencer @CoachWSpencer]

@NFLonCBS Avoided it by intentionally grounding? 🤷‍♂️

[Coach Spencer @CoachWSpencer]

We teach players that if they have their head around finding the ball, they’re gonna be good. Wiggins had his head around for multiple yards, while having his arm hooked/pulled and HE gets the flag? Come on, now… Do better, officials.

[Oliver Davis II @I_Am_OD3]

No way they called this a PI on the cornerback. Like come on now NFL. We know it’s a offensive driven league and yall like to see TD’s and points and sell tickets but this is as bad as it gets man smh

[Coach Spencer @CoachWSpencer]

@PFF Stats and analytics are helpful. Subjective grading when you don’t know the play call, assignments, keys/reads is 100% worthless.

@ColeJacksonFB Dude in comments defending OP saying “it’s an ace block which is a ‘lesser form’ of a double team”. Bro…

People are calling Vega Ioane the best guard prospect since Quenton Nelson.

More explosive than Tyler Booker. More complete than Tyler Smith. Right there with Chris Lindstrom.

And it’s not just hype:

808 pass-block snaps over the last 2 seasons…

0 sacks allowed.

Plus, 68% of Penn State’s rushing yards went to his side.

So is he actually that good?

Let’s roll the film. @vegaioane17 @PennStateFball

Ravens fans, I suggest watching the TV cuts of @PennStateFball last year. You’ll see Vega hyping up his teammates and the crowd after the play. He’s not only a beast, but he’s a tone setting culture guy. He’s a real one. Stuff you can’t teach. #ravensflock #nfldraft

Saban, Re: Proctor
Started complimenting the Alabama LT, then rolled into this ...
"The issue with him is--he's not a bad person. He'll do whatever you ask him to, once you get him in the building. But when he's not in the building, he might get a little overweight, he might not come in in the best shape, and those are the things you have to manage with him. But I think they're manageable. He's not exactly a self-starter who will get in great shape and come to camp like you want him. But if you can get him to come to camp, (once) you got him there, you can get him ready to go. So, I don't think that's a huge negative for the guy."

I know Saban meant all this as a positive, but hearing this stuff keeps me speculative on how he'd mesh with the Lions' culture.

[Coach Spencer @CoachWSpencer]

@HoodieRamey Because that probably had the most direct flight or one that had a better arrival time?

The Ravens went from adding the fastest selling jersey in Dundalk/Glen Burnie to the fastest selling jersey in Lutherville/Timonium 🤣🤣

@ColeJacksonFB @HuddleItUpFilms Also, the personality and demeanor between 77 and Vega couldn’t be more different. Vega looks for work and wants to end people. 77 is a gentle giant. I don’t want to hear any comparisons.

[Coach Spencer @CoachWSpencer]

@ColeJacksonFB @HuddleItUpFilms Watch him get downfield and 2nd level on run blocks. He looks for work. Also there are things the tape doesn’t show. Watch him between plays. Dude is a leader and plays with a fire that’s rare for an OL. I was at the PSU/Nebraska game this year and was enamored for those reasons.

@mightykaos41 So sick of the “positional value” argument from folks. A player that can remove the best player from an offense is a game changer. And different teams value different positions in different ways.

#Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald is the first head coach who also calls defensive plays to win a Super Bowl. 🏆

[Coach Spencer @CoachWSpencer]

@The_Coach_A This is why Minter is such a good hire in Baltimore. He used 4 with the Chargers too. Ravens have players in the back end. Now can he get the personnel for the front?
