Ball Screen Wednesday! (Because I forgot on Monday.)
How different reads within the same ball screen action can be manipulated to attack aggressive coverages.
Action: Ram + Exit
Clip 1: Play 4-on-3
Aggressive coverages create the advantage for you. Get off the ball quickly, trust the numbers advantage, and let the defense pay for overcommitting.
Clip 2: Reject It
Defenses often load up early in anticipation of the screen. Rejecting it can help you avoid the extra defender and attack the gap before help arrives.
Clip 3: Empty the Side
Especially effective when you have a big who can shoot. Force the defense into the long closeout they're creating and attack the advantage.
Clip 4: Get Action
Layering a Get action after the ball screen creates a difficult cover. Asking the ball screen defenders to navigate two consecutive actions is no easy task.
Clip 5: Leverage Rim Pressure
Getting off the ball quickly while keeping a lob threat at the rim creates a difficult 2-on-1 decision for the help defender.
🚨 Concepts that KILL IN HS 🚨
👇🏼
Three ELITE ways to attack 2-3
1. SCREEN the inside guard on the top of zone. This forces an overload on the switch, allowing the middle of the zone to be pinned on the roll without wing help.
2. To counter this action, GHOST the inside guard on the top of the zone. This creates a strong side overload with the wing defender.
3. 77 action with a SHALLOW cut from the second screener will overload the weakside wing defender creating a 2 on 1.

2027 Nigel Broome is incredibly solid. You will get maximum effort from him every game and he keeps his game concise. Strong attacking the basket and is great pressuring the ball.
Nigel Broome
Scored the ball well on and off the ball. Showed the ability to handle the ball and run the offense. A good passer who put his teammates in good spots. Plays with a high motor and competes heavily on both ends. Nigel is very crafty and never sped up.
