Joe Mazzulla on dealing with praise:
“Praise is just as dangerous as criticism. You
just have to remind yourself that neither one lasts too long. And, really, at the end of the day, they're going to forget about you eventually. This is all just a short-term thing that’s going to last a few years, and then 10-15, years from now, nobody is going to talk about you. So it really doesn’t matter.”

“The people I respect most as teammates are people that can play but don’t need to play. There’s not an emotional tie or something where they wrap their identity around only their individual achievement. It’s more about what they can give for the team,”
Winners are givers.
"There's a big difference in being a great player and being a great winner.
The best players are both.
When you are a great winner, you are committed to the invisible.
Your commitment level to the things that drive team success that get no recognition is at the highest level."
Drexel wasn’t phased by an 0-3 start in conference play. They stuck to their process - stack days, practices, games, and ultimately wins.

And now, the team picked 10th out of 13 teams in the CAA preseason poll has exceeded expectations up to this point, with March fast approaching.

Measuring understanding is a critical aspect of teaching. Just because something is said doesn’t mean it’s heard, understood, or executable.
Here’s a creative way a leader taught one of his leaders:
Everyone wants more minutes.
Everyone wants more opportunities.
But the real question is — are you earning them?
Prove that you deserve more than just a spot — prove that you deserve a role.

You don’t need a starting spot to work like a starter.
You don’t need a guarantee to give max effort.
Attitude and effort—those are always in your control.
Bring it every day. Earn everything.
That’s how champions are built.
Great coaches listen and adapt. They do not necessarily change and they never lose their drive to coach up a player. You have to be honest to be a coach, but listening gives you timing, and that is critical.
