The 2026 @SOOntario School Championships have officially wrapped up, and London was proud to welcome more than 1,000 student athletes, community partners, coaches, volunteers, officials, and supporters from across the province.

From personal bests to unforgettable moments of teamwork and inclusion, these games showcased the very best of basketball, bocce, floorball, soccer, and track & field, and the power of community behind every event.

Thank you to everyone who helped make these championships such a success. Your energy, sportsmanship, and support made this week unforgettable.

The 2026 Special Olympics Ontario School Championships, hosted by the London Police Service in partnership with Western University, are now officially underway! Let the games begin! 🎉

Today’s opening ceremonies welcomed 1,000 high school-aged athletes, with and without intellectual disabilities, from across Ontario for an incredible celebration of inclusion, sport, and community.

It was a wonderful way to kick off the Games, and we thank everyone who came out to cheer on the athletes, including police services from across the province who attended in support!

We’re looking forward to an inspiring next couple of days as these amazing athletes showcase their talent, determination, and teamwork. 💙💛

🏆 Aaron Thompson is the inaugural winner of the OUA Community Service Award. The @WesternTF sprinter was recognized as part of the 2025-26 @OUAsport Honour Awards Banquet tonight.

Thompson has won the OUA Track & Field Community Service Award winner three times and is the back to back winner of the @USPORTSca Track & Field Community Service award. He was also the 2026 winner of the G. Howard Ferguson award as outstanding student-athlete scholar.

Congratulations Aaron on the well deserved honour.
