UPDATE 📢
Registration for the MSILDG Summer Research Meeting will open mid-May, so start thinking about your abstract submissions now 🧠💬
We can't wait to welcome you on 8-10 August at Churchill College, Cambridge! #ionicliquids#moltensalts
The structure of protic ILs based on H2SO4, doped with excess of acid or with H2O by @AnneMcGrogan2 and Dr Emily Byrne - now in PCCP! https://t.co/q1hU5naQeZ
Excellent collaboration with Prof John Holbrey @QUILLResearch, @isisneutronmuon, and @ChrobokGroup!
Today I asked ChatGPT about the topic I wrote my PhD about. It produced reasonably sounding explanations and reasonably looking citations. So far so good – until I fact-checked the citations. And things got spooky when I asked about a physical phenomenon that doesn’t exist.
🚨 New PhD Positions Alert! 🚨
Applications are now open for a PhD position available in my group, and another position where I am secondary supervisor. Biocatalysis and nanoparticles in ionic liquids. See below for details 👇

Save the date: 17-18 August 2022! Date of the MSILDG's traditional 2022 Summer Research Meeting at Churchill College, Cambridge, UK. Please join us for an informal discussion and celebration of everything #ionicliquids and #moltensalts. We look forward to meeting you.
Nanoparticles (10s of millionths of a mm!) are pretty tough to see! But the nmRC is excited to be offering a paid 6-8 week summer studentship to current UoN undergraduates to come work with some of our expert team and facilities to help develop methods that let us do just that..
The support for @LixeaNews from the local Varmland community was terrific!
