@ultrathinktrash For quick throwaway projects, then you can vibecode the whole thing, who cares? But if it’s supposed to be a serious product, then quality is important. Don’t be a slop coder. With AI you can now write high quality code fast, don’t get lazy and ship trash code you don’t even read
@ultrathinktrash I also use AI, but I use it to COLLABORATE, I don’t one-shot shit, I use as a speed-up and to find bugs , but don’t delegate the entire app. That’s how you end up with SLOP. Do what Mitchell Hashimoto does, use it to enhance quality, don’t ship slop where you don’t know the code
@MatrixAscender lol just listen to her voice you fucking faggot, does ANY real woman sound like that? You probably prefer trans anyway, don’t you? You like a little extra sausage in your buffet
@ncphi@marcelpociot Yes, agree, but if a small refactor to an infrastructural/core class is required they often miss it, and instead pile on edge cases and hacks, and the code turns to mush incredibly quickly
@penberg I never claimed C++ was as safe as Rust. I just said it’s not as hard as FUD would have you believe to write and ship a robust and decent C++ product. Such that it SHOULD be considered as well, it just outright dismissed by a bunch of smug Rust know-it-alls.
@penberg “Not defensible” lol - so won’t ACCEPT disagreement. Unbelievably smug and full of yourself. WE HAVE A PRODUCT WITH MILLIONS OF USERS. Our product is written in C++. It’s a GREAT product. Stop your condescension. You’re not always right. Let’s agree to disagree, stop being a brat
@penberg The trade-offs are worth it in our case. Our product has millions of users. We pass security audits with flying colors. Our product is fast and beautiful and cross platform.
If it’s not for you, cool. But don’t speak for everyone, nor act like your way is the only sensible way.
@penberg Ok man. In my case modern C++ gives me tools to avoid issues, and where not (rare), frontier AI models fill in the gaps. C++ also gives me things Rust cannot:
* Amazing compile-time programming support
* Reflection (via C++26)
* GUI (via Qt)
* Fast iteration/compile times
