localhost:3000 is how your browser talks to a server on your own machine. 3000 is the port — like a specific door into the server.

4 things I learned today that weren't in my learning plan (a short thread)

1. --version checks if anything is installed. Python, Node, npm, anyting.

3. npm run dev starts a local server but only while the terminal is open. Close it and the server stops.
