ON THE SECURITY SITUATION AND ATTACKS ON SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES ACROSS NIGERIA
Recent events unfolding across the country have left me deeply concerned due to the alarming resurgence of insecurity in various parts of Nigeria, particularly the recent wave of killings, abductions, attacks on communities, and the disturbing targeting of schools and innocent children.
In Kogi State, terrorists reportedly invaded Ayegunle Bunu in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, killing a resident, injuring others, and abducting more than fifteen persons, including passengers travelling in a commercial vehicle. This attack came amid growing security concerns in the state and follows several other incidents that have heightened fears among residents.
In Plateau State, armed attackers stormed Gwon-Ajang village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area during a birthday celebration, killing at least eight people and injuring ten others. This latest tragedy adds to the recurring attacks that have claimed numerous lives across Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Riyom, and other communities in recent months, leaving many families bereaved and displaced.
Equally disturbing are the repeated attacks on educational institutions. In Oyo State, gunmen launched coordinated attacks on schools in Ahoro-Esinele, Oriire Local Government Area, abducting dozens of pupils and teachers, while a teacher was reportedly killed. The incident forced the closure of several schools in neighbouring communities as a precautionary measure.
Similarly, in Borno State, armed insurgents attacked schools in Mussa community, Askira-Uba Local Government Area, abducting scores of children, most of whom were nursery and primary school pupils between the ages of two and six. Parents watched helplessly as their children were taken away, further underscoring the vulnerability of schools and learning environments in conflict-affected areas.
These incidents represent a dangerous trend that threatens the lives, education, livelihoods, and future of millions of Nigerians. The persistent attacks on schools are particularly troubling because schools are sacred spaces where the nation’s future leaders are nurtured, educated, and prepared for national service. Any attack on a school is, in essence, an attack on Nigeria’s future.
On this note, I call on the relevant security agencies, and all relevant stakeholders to immediately strengthen the nation’s security architecture, with special emphasis on schools, rural communities, highways, and other vulnerable locations.
The government must be reminded that Section 14(2)(b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria clearly provides that “the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.” This constitutional obligation must move beyond rhetoric and be reflected in concrete actions capable of safeguarding lives and property.
To effectively address the evolving security challenges confronting the nation, there is an urgent need to deploy modern, technology-driven security solutions. These should include the extensive use of surveillance drones for real-time monitoring of forests and ungoverned spaces, satellite mapping to identify terrorist hideouts and criminal camps, advanced facial recognition systems for tracking criminal networks, geospatial intelligence tools, and modern communication systems that enhance rapid response capabilities.
Furthermore, intelligence gathering and sharing must be comprehensively revamped. Local communities possess invaluable knowledge of their environments and should be integrated into a structured intelligence framework that enables security agencies to anticipate threats, identify suspicious activities, and prevent attacks before they occur. Community-based intelligence, supported by technology and professional security operations, remains one of the most effective strategies for combating terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.

ALERT: This is the video of travelers humiliated by bandits after they were intercepted near Tsafe while returning to Gusau, Zamfara State. According to accounts shared by relatives, some of the victims, said to be from Tudun Waila area in Gusau town, have allegedly been held for four days.
Families are pleading for urgent intervention as fears grow over their safety.
How many more civilians must endure such ordeals before effective security measures are put in place?
That's is called growth to me.
He is no longer the person he was 16years ago.
Maturity has made him realised insulting parties in a mosque won't make a difference in anybody's life.
You have to do what politicians do to win.
Play dirty or perish
Isa Ali Pantami’s story is truly a great lesson and example for all of us. A respected Islamic scholar with countless old lectures criticizing politicians, condemning politics, and discouraging scholars from accepting political appointments, yet later became DG of NITDA and Minister of Communications.
The same man who once prayed and cried for the downfall of PDP and Jonathan has today become a politician himself. After losing out in APC, the same PDP he once insulted came to his aid with a gubernatorial ticket, and today he contests under the PDP platform and under Goodluck Jonathan.
Indeed, wonders shall never end. May Allah never test our Imaan beyond what we can bear.
BREAKING! US court ha suspended the US sanctions against me!
As the judge says: "Protecting the Freedom of speech is always just the public interest".
Thanks to my daughter and my husband for stepping up to defend me, and everyone who has helped so far.

This is to officially convey that the, The National Officers Committee (NOC) of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), ably led by Dr (Prof) Afekhide Ernest Omoti, is fully briefed and in full cognizance of the above unfortunate incident affecting some of our members in Akwa Ibom State.
The NOC condemns, in the strongest possible terms, such alleged reckless and barbaric behaviors allegedly displayed by operatives of the EFCC within the premises of a public hospital and against medical personnel in the course of their daily duty of rendering life-saving services.
The National Officers Committee has begun high-level engagements to get to the root of this matter and seek redress at the highest quarters. This NOC will not tolerate continuing harassment of doctors in any form whatsoever.
While at it; the President of NMA hereby directs as follows:
1. That the Akwa Ibom State branch of NMA has the full support of the NMA NOC and the NOC approves of all lawful measures that the branch has taken so far, including any other such lawful actions they may take in the near future, to seek complete redress on the subject matter
2. That henceforth, in any event of unlawful and unwarranted harassment of any doctor in the course of duty elsewhere, the leadership of all State and FCT Branches where such incidents occur must demand the identification and prosecution of any such law enforcement agents
3. That the demand in (2) above must be on the minimum demand for truce at all times
It must, however, be noted, by all law enforcement agencies and members of public, that nothing in this directive suggests that law enforcement agents should not carry out their lawful duties, but that such activities must be in accordance with highest ethical standards for law enforcement, rule of law, decorum and common decency expected of modern law enforcement establishments.
Thank you
