Crazy.
Wemby gets a ton of attention, as he should.
But the way his team, and particularly the veterans, are willing to accept his leadership and emotion out there?
Amazing. Johnson & Fox & Barnes are REAL NBA vets & they willingly accept a 22 year old's leadership.
Fire.
A family member who has known @spurs Luke Kornet since high school just told me that the chase down block he just had might have been biggest play of his career. (BTW, Luke was a 6-8 and 175 pound high school junior with no D-1 offers)
In the stands, a H.S. parent complains to anyone who will listen that his kid isn't playing much.
Another parent: "Team is 15-2, Top 5 in the state, winning the league."
Response: "I don't care about that."
And there you have it.
For some parents, it's never about the team.
Great for players to hear.
@dallasmavs coach Jared Dudley how to impact winning in a world that is obsessed with scoring:
🔒 Defend Multiple Positions
🛞 Drive and Kick Decision Making
🎯 What's Your One Outlier Trait?
Social media glorifies the 20+ point per game scorer. But most teams already have one, or two of those guys.
What they’re really searching for are the players who dominate in the margins: boxing out, sprinting back, diving on the floor, the second effort, the winning habit repeated over and over again.
Your value isn’t determined by how many minutes you get.
It’s determined by what you do with the minutes you've earned.
Because that impact creates trust. And that trust creates opportunity.
And the players who consistently help the team grow usually end up growing themselves.

Academic year following their 19th birthday.
Clock doesn’t start because you turned 19.
You can still reclass
People think when we travel for basketball it’s a vacation. When you trying to win, it’s literally all work. We don’t go out and party after games. We go back to watch film and prepare.
Joaquim Boumtje-Boumtje showed off his guard skills at 7'0, doing a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor in Barcelona's adidas NextGen Finals win.
22 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks for the Duke-commit.
It’s really sad, but after the first recruiting weekend for the 2027 high school class, I had a couple of coaching friends tell me this week they can only take one or two high school players because they have to save spots for the transfer portal. I guess these kids have to go to lower levels and work their way up. A very small percentage will stay anywhere for four/five years. The new normal. 🤷🏼♂️🏀
Probably speaking for the masses here but would love if we’re able to get draft content/insight from @Barlowe500 this year, assuming the contract allows it. Love the industry, hate how cutthroat it can be at times. Hope you land on your feet in a good spot for you & the fam. 🫡
