The Genocide of the Assyrians, Syriacs, Chaldeans, and Armenians Christians population by the Ottoman Turks -

During the summer of 1915, the Ottoman district of Siirt became a focal point of the Sayfo (Assyrian/Syriac Genocide).

Intellectuals, elites, and priests were among the first to be arrested. Local militia units publicly tortured and executed these religious leaders to terrorize the broader population. Bishop Yahqub (Jacob) of Kerburan was brutally, publicly tortured as well as the public assassination of Priest Abraham, whose severed head was paraded and thrown into the streets of Siirt to demonstrate absolute authority.

Following the removal of community leadership, the remaining Syriac Christian inhabitants of Siirt were systematically rounded up. Local authorities and militia groups executed almost the entire male Christian population, entirely devastating the Chaldean Christian diocese.

Of the thousands of Christians residing in Siirt, only about 400 women and children were spared immediate execution. Instead, they were forced onto fatal deportation marches toward Mardin or Mosul. Due to extreme exposure, disease, starvation, and targeted violence along the road, almost none of the deportees reached Mardin, and only 50 to 100 survivors ultimately made it to Mosul.

This event was part of a broader campaign of targeted regional campaigns in 1915, carried out by Ottoman forces and local irregular units against Christian minorities, including Assyrians, Syriacs, Chaldeans, and Armenians. Historical documentation estimates that between 250,000 and 500,000 Assyrian, Syriac, and Chaldean Christians died during the genocide—representing roughly half of their entire pre-war population.

The proposal is to hand it air superiority over the neighbours it has already invaded once. You hand the matches to the man who keeps burning down the street, then act surprised about the smoke.

Everyone in the room knows what Turkey is. The Americans know, the Germans know, the French know. Nobody says it, because Turkey sits on the Bosphorus, hosts the radars, holds the migration tap, and prices its geography with precision. So the West pays, in jets, in silence, in swallowed principles, and calls the payment diplomacy.

Geography is real leverage and real leverage gets paid. But there is a difference between paying a toll and arming the toll collector who keeps announcing he might rob you. A member that acts in Moscow’s interest, occupies European soil, and erases its own crimes is a threat with a membership card. We have understood it. We have had enough of paying for the silence.
