@JenniferRead6 But, again, the differing assessments used to screen for it are apparently looking at different things. It's no surprise that they identify different characteristics that 'could' be identified as dyscalculia. (5/5)
@JenniferRead6 A severe difficulty in recalling number facts and inability to learn and apply counting principles stand out to me as identifiable characteristics having started to read into it. (3/x)
@JenniferRead6 However, I understand that for dyslexia there is more of a consensus as to the characteristics of it. From personal experience, I can't think of one child with severe difficulties in maths and only maths. (2/x)
@JenniferRead6 Ah, I see. For the (few) papers I've read, there seem to be far fewer pupils with diagnoses of dyscalculia that dyslexia. Perhaps that's an effect of there being little clarity as to a definition rather than true number of dyscalculics. (1/x)
