@anduri1_ I think that they didn't want to have to deal with vetting gambling sponsors across regions and areas and just took a broad stroke approach to solve for it.

People cheering the fact that Valve is removing sponsors don't understand the ecosystem.

Player salaries and organizations are largely funded by sponsors (with a large chunk being gambling).

Betting sites might be a problem, but this isn't a good solution.
