The stats are maddening: over 4,000 HMRC staff haven't been in the office at all for over 6 months. Over 1,000 haven't been in for over a YEAR.

And - as I understand the Telegraph data - these are not workers that were HIRED on remote working contracts - that is a totally separate category (and I think there are some 1,300 additional HMRC staff hired on that basis). The 4,000 figure is people who are MEANT to be coming into the office but simply aren't

I know I go on a lot about the state of UK democracy but let’s take the China deal as an example.

The UK Government describes the UK–China Clean Energy Partnership as a “private document” and has not published it.

Calling it a Memorandum of Understanding means…

In a democracy citizens, through their MPs, vote based on information. Yet it appears Labour is increasingly withholding information using mechanisms to avoid scrutiny and tie the UK to deals I don’t think the majority would vote for.

That is a very odd version of democracy dont you think?
