I think the feelings of Liverpool being "stale" in possession aren't from earlier stages of build up, but from inefficiency in the final 3rd.

- 2nd for final 3rd passes completed
- 2nd for penalty area touches
- 4th for open play npxG

On the surface this isn't so bad, but as ratios:

- dead last at turning final 3rd passes completed into penalty area touches
- 11th for turning penalty area touches into open play xG

Median efficiency once inside the box from open play, but abysmal at converting advanced possession into touches in dangerous areas.
