It’s a wrap!! So proud of the Senior Health team @ProvHealth and our system curriculum and media partners. All 8 modules of our Age-Friendly Clinic Education Series will now be in production. Can’t wait for more clinics to use these for their teams to promote Age-Friendly care!
So proud of our dream team. Or at least Day 1 of it! Our Senior Health team is recording our 8 modules of our Age-Friendly Clinic Education Series for broader dissemination @ProvHealth. Geriatricizing primary care one step at a time!
Couldn’t agree more. We don’t incentivize caring for older adults as systems or in recruiting new learners into the field. Our Geriatric Mini-Fellowship @ProvHealth is not a full fellowship but has been popular among mid-career PCPs. We need more alternative models like the GMF!
@Automotive_News Not perfect, but such an important acknowledgment in the common media of what so many families experience, especially during the holidays. And a thoughtful portrayal of how important reminiscence can be for people with dementia and their special people. https://t.co/XZuVClxwrF
The holidays can be a difficult time for family members of loved ones with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. But in a new ad, Chevrolet portrays how the season can also spark moments of joy, however fleeting. https://t.co/w52Bb4ZQUo
So proud of my colleagues @jennifervin and @caulleja for doing the hard work to analyze and share some of our Providence data about fall risk screenings! Clearly, our rehab colleagues are excelling in this area!
https://t.co/9nmyhRGbAn Our retrospective eval of #STEADI implementation for #fallprevention in outpatient rehab in a large health system has been published in @geronsociety. Therapists screened > 50,000 older adults (76%) in 4 years. #PTs had the highest rates (>90%).
All my work from the last 6 years summarized in a few pages. Excited to share: Integrating STEADI for Falls Prevention in Outpatient Rehabilitation Clinics: An Outcomes Evaluation Using the RE-AIM Framework | The Gerontologist | Oxford Academic https://t.co/JTHOoxIaSG
Geriatric Mini-Fellowship Week 2, Mobility, Day 3. The ‘fellows’ (@ProvHealth PCPs) get real and join their volunteer patient partners for some Tai Chi led by Fernando. Great job to Debbie for leading our Fall Risk class as part of the mock Fall Risk Clinic. #OlderAmericansMonth
Wonderful Fall Risk Clinic yesterday as part of Week 2 of the Geriatric Mini-Fellowship focusing on Mobility @ProvHealth. Many thanks to our volunteer patient partners and to @caulleja and Sharon Leigh, PharmD for organizing and leading the PT and PharmD portions! #geriatricizing
We are overprescribing gabapentanoids without evidence to support it and it leads to increased ADEs in older adults. #AGS23 year absolutely skewers gabapentin overprescribing (in the most musical way)
An approximated 56 million older adults and only 6,230 geriatricians by 2025?! 🤔 something doesn’t add up there! Pretty scary… this should be a public health emergency in itself #AGS23@AmerGeriatrics
All hail the #pockettalker! Thank you @EWidera for sharing this important study to highlight the benefits of low -cost sound amplification and community health workers to benefit the many, many older adults who cannot afford hearing Aida!
the 12th commandment at #AGS23: speak the way you want to be spoken to! ➡️decreasing “elderspeak” improved responsiveness to care in people living with dementia.
✅the words we use matters! #geriatrics
