Check out my letter to the editor in the @nytimes from their recent series, “Dying Broke,” which highlights the exorbitant costs of long-term care.

Product of the strike last year - I hope this leads to better staffing! “NY hospitals are paying big penalties for understaffing. Nurses hope that leads to change.” https://t.co/bqYC5yNpZb via @gothamist
My resolution for 2024 is to continue to make space and time for myself to write what I am passionate about, while continuing my doctoral degree and growing my business. Great things to come next year!
This has been a very exciting year for me professionally. Not only did I start Allied Aging, but I also got back to writing, which is something I love. Today it was announced that my op-ed published on @cogwbur was their most read of 2023!

@nytimes No one thinks they will need help when they get older, but most do. My patients are shocked when we review the options and costs. Medicaid can't be the only option to pay for long-term care. Congress must establish a better system for middle-class Americans to finance LTC.
@nytimes I am a geriatric nurse practitioner in New York and have seen this story time and time again. The reality: families go broke finding care for their loved ones. The alternative: women in the family give up their lives and jobs to care for their family members instead
The cost of long-term care for an aging relative can wreak havoc on a family’s finances, forcing Americans to make daunting choices.

Can cranberry juice and supplements be used in healthy older women to prevent UTIs? The jury is still out! Studies are conflicting and more research is needed. But it’s a pretty harmless prevention to try in women with recurrent UTIs #AGS23
