When Protestants interact with LDS they be like:
“You are not Christian unless you accept the definition of God not explicitly stated in the Bible that came from a 300 year debate that was authoritatively settled by Catholic Bishops.”
LDS: “So you’re Catholic?”
Prot: “No. The Catholic Church is the church of the devil and the Pope is the antichrist. But you must accept the Catholic definition of God to be Christian.”
@abbythelibb_ Will you please point out where LDS are claiming to be just another denomination of Christian? I know that I am a deciple of Christ, no matter what you say. He's my master, not you.
@gopTODD I am not funded by China and I'm against the data center because we shouldn't be assisting the implementation of Skynet. I know that sounds far fetched, but I know that China is kicking our butts in the realm of totalitarianism and that's a race I don't want to win.
A member of a former ward of mine had Down Syndrome. I remember when he became a priest and wanted to bless the sacrament. His dad and the bishop worked a ton with him until he could do it unassisted.
The first time he blessed the sacrament on his own, it was not perfect, but there was not a dry eye in the chapel. To this day, I have never seen anyone smile bigger than he did when he finished and stood up. It was one of the most profoundly spiritual experiences of my life, to feel the love of the Savior for him, and for me, through his simple act of service. I’ll never forget it.
After high school, he wanted to serve a mission. He was called as a service missionary. He worked in a Bishop’s Storehouse.
I have never met anyone more excited and proud to wear his name tag. The world needs more people like him. He radiates pure joy wherever he goes.
@ASFleischman Good point. Maybe there's something wrong with the state. Maybe there should be, in addition to you, a government official that regulates prosecutors.
@McCormickProf And they're happier than the average person. Isn't it a moral duty to have all Down syndrome babies we reasonably can if it increases joy in the world? Obviously within reason.
Why does everything feel like theater?
We have a Congress that won't pass something 83% people want.
We have a judicial system that doesn’t hold criminals accountable.
We have an education system that doesn’t educate.
We have a non-profit system that profits from our tax dollars.
We have a health care industry that profits from you staying sick.
We have a financial industry that needs you to stay in debt.
We have an insurance industry that fights every single claim.
It just all feels so fake, so theatrical.
@Salt_n_Smoke With Peter, do you think Satan was literally in Peter when he objected or was it metaphorical? Because we have Peter opposing Jesus being crucified but Judas bringing it about?
@Salt_n_Smoke Sorry.. you do have a point. Why would Satan tempt Judas into betraying Jesus if Jesus' sacrifice is the plan of redemption? That's a legit question for the Book of Mormon. I have thoughts on that, but I acknowledge the challenge.
