"The popular faith in words is a veritable disease of the mind, for a superstition of this sort always leads farther and farther away from man's foundations and seduces people into a disastrous identification of the personality with whatever slogan may be in vogue." C.G. Jung
🚨 BREAKING: In a bombshell moment, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ABOLISHES H-1B VISAS from being used at state universities
"We can do it with Florida RESIDENTS or AMERICANS! If we can't? Then man, we need to REALLY look deeply at what's going on with this situation!"
DeSantis exposed that H-1B AUDITS found colleges were bringing in Chinese people on visas to talk to students about "public policy," among other issues.
"Why do we need to bring someone from CHINA to talk about public policy?!"
"I am directing today the Florida Board of Governors to PULL THE PLUG on the use of these H-1B visas at our universities."
HUGE! I LOVE my state! @GovRonDeSantis ☀️
Looking back we will be forced to acknowledge that it is a major problem that so many of the leading voices in AI, on all sides of the debate, have adopted moral frameworks and lifestyles profoundly at odds with what most ppl consider necessary to lead a good and worthwhile life
I remember around 2009 grad school friends who adored Obama, took him for an “intellectual,” predicted that after he was pres he would write books, great treatises on philosophy and political theory. They didnt think he’d just give bland generic speeches for NGO ribboncutting.
Sci-fi story where aliens with completely alien biology (no need for Earth) colonize Venus and they just don't respond to communication attempts, don't even send probes to earth, leaving everyone on earth just kinda confused.
There was a video going around today of a guy stopping some people from cutting in line at an amusement park and somebody can be heard on the video saying, “this guy is acting like he’s an authority” and it’s just like, yeah, exactly. That’s the thing. That’s the big thing. That’s the big difference. It’s 100 million people all acting like they’re the authority, because they are the authority. Because they know the rules and they’re going to make sure that you follow them. No free riders.
The motto in every shitty neighborhood in the country, on the other hand, is that it ain’t your business. Mind your own business. Don’t you worry about me.
You hate the Karen’s to the detriment of your society. Of course they’re annoying, sometimes. But every nice place on earth is full of people who don’t mind their own damn business, who are absolutely committed to the idea that you’re going to follow the rules, people who make that their business.
If the US government makes a dedicated law enforcement agency for regulating AI someone should make a gritty cop movie about them called "training data".
@ComradeArthur There's a really interesting issue with these orders - if the judges cite the hallucinations by name, then that gets fed into the training models *as actual cases*.
