Such a pleasure to see Costa Rica’s Trade Minister @Manuel_Tovar_R in DC to discuss creating more opportunities for shared prosperity in our countries and the Hemisphere.
Great to see again a friend and partner of thought on the global trading agenda @Colvin_Jake. Thank you once again for hosting me at the National Foreign Trade Council. @NFTC.
Finally, what Congress will do, having been reminded by the Court of their Article 1 authority to regulate tariffs? We're encouraging a bipartisan effort to reform the delegation of the full range of tariff authorities.
Today's Supreme Court ruling on IEEPA tariffs was a positive development, but the reality is that it's likely to cause more uncertainty for companies and consumers in the short term. A🧵
Also unclear? The steps the administration will take to impose additional tariffs. The Court has given the administration a unique chance to pivot towards a more targeted approach to tariffs while focusing on lowering prices and creating greater certainty with our partners.
Looking forward to Sec @CommerceGov & @USTradeRep's visit to Europe, we hope that the EU's continued focus on discriminatory digital policies will be top of mind. The admin has made opposing such policies a priority & we urge continued momentum. 🇺🇸🇪🇺

It was a privilege to meet with Swiss President @keller_sutter in DC. At @NFTC, we'll continue to advocate for strengthening America's economic and security relationships with close allies like Switzerland and reducing trade barriers and uncertainty.
Vizepräsident @ParmelinG und ich haben uns auch mit wichtigen amerikanischen Wirtschaftsvertretern getroffen, um über die Zoll-Situation zu sprechen. #WASHINGTON
Yes, this is an off-the-charts increase in tariffs - particularly because the tariffs are applied to the 2/3rds of imports that normally come in duty free (coffee, tea, tin, bananas, etc.) Even Nixon's 10% surcharge in 1971 did not include those goods. . . .

@NFTC@MorningConsult This polling suggests that there is an opportunity for candidates to articulate a positive vision for U.S. global technology leadership -- and offer a plan to stand up for America’s businesses and workers abroad while developing closer trade and technology ties with our allies.
Today @NFTC released first-of-its-kind polling conducted by @MorningConsult that finds American voters overwhelmingly want stronger U.S. global leadership on trade, technology and AI.
Americans agree - next year brings a renewed opportunity to enhance U.S. global leadership, reinforcing our national security and advancing prosperity for all.
Let's commit to keeping the U.S. at the forefront of global progress.

Congratulations to @wto Director-General @NOIweala for receiving @WITA_DC Global Leadership Award. @NFTC is grateful for the chance to support the event and partner with our friends at WITA. I'm thrilled that our Chair Susan Schwab and @NFTCTiffany could represent us in Geneva.
With former President Trump claiming at the @EconClubNY that his proposed #tariffs "will combat inflation," it's a good time to point out that tariffs raise prices, harm working families and undermine America's national and economic security. https://t.co/m2iZBSzRBN
Tariffs do not "combat inflation." Tariffs are regressive, inflationary, discriminatory and paid by Americans. Revitalizing American manufacturing can be achieved without jeopardizing the global markets American businesses need to grow. (1/2)

NFTC welcomes USTR Action Against Canada’s DST 🇺🇸🇨🇦
@NFTCTiffany: “Today’s action is a critical first step in pushing back against the proliferation of discriminatory digital policies and other similar taxes that are unfairly targeting U.S. companies."

Thank you to Rep @BillPascrell, @RepBethVanDuyne, @RepDelBene & @RepLaHood for highlighting the impact of Canada's discriminatory digital services tax on American Companies. 🇨🇦

Narrow de-risking measures won't provide much protection in the event of a crisis with China. Pressure for the yard to get wider & the fence to get higher will increase, making narrow de-risking politically hard to sustain.

Congratulations to Ian Saunders on his election as the new Secretary-General of the @WCO_OMD. This is a critical time for U.S. leadership at the WCO (and Intl Institutions more broadly). Ian is a terrific choice, and @NFTC looks forward to working with him https://t.co/Dxw6gOptjf
We were thrilled to host @CBP leadership for a conversation w/ U.S. candidate for Secretary General of the @WCO_OMD Ian Saunders last week. Ian would be a great SG & we wish him luck in the election on June 24. #IANSG
