As the November midterm elections approach, the rising economic power and growing political engagement of the Latino community are positioned to act as a decisive force in close races nationwide as this discussion on NewsNation shows
Today was emotionally exhausting.
I sat and listened to American citizens fighting back tears as they told their stories.
A husband of 24 years—held for nine months in an ICE detention center.
No criminal record. A hardworking man.
Their children in college… trying to stay strong, unable to help their own father.
And then you ask yourself—
what right does the government have to tell an American citizen who they can love?
Or to tell her she can leave this country if she wants to be with her husband?
She’s an American citizen.
A U.S. Marine about to be deployed—his mother is in detention.
A U.S. Navy officer’s wife—in detention.
We can’t keep doing this to families.
It’s wrong. It’s been wrong for years.
Families with mixed status have been living this reality since 1998.
America can do better—and it should.
