Few people in Washington fought longer or harder to fix our broken immigration system than Lindsey Graham.

From the 2013 immigration reform effort to DIGNITY, he was there.

He knew how hard this fight was. And he knew why it was worth continuing.

When we began building the Dignity Plan, Lindsey joined those early conversations.

He listened.
He shared what he'd learned.
And he pushed us to keep going, to find a real solution.

I will always be grateful for his counsel and the years he gave to this fight.

Rest in peace, Lindsey. You will be missed.

Happy Fourth of July! We celebrate 250 yrs since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, but 1.4 million US citizens married to immigrants with no pathways to legal status are still denied "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." That's why AFU is working to form a more perfect union.

AFU members were in Washington D.C. recently to fight for their families. These are U.S. citizens. They are Americans who married someone they love and are now living in fear, separated, or in exile. This is their story and it's backed by data.

Right now, marrying a U.S. citizen does not guarantee a path to legal status. The AFU Act would change that, it will let judges weigh what family separation actually costs a U.S. citizen, and grant relief when it does.
