There is a lack of education regarding Alcohol Abuse in my community. As a result, the people in need of help are ridiculed and judged for abusing alcohol. This ignorance has resulted in an increase of alcohol abuse cases.
Mental illness is just a general term for a group of illnesses that may include symptoms that can affect a person's thinking , perception, mood or behavior.
The following may indicate that there is a substance use problem:
1. Not being able to stop using the substance or cut down on the amount being used.
2. Feeling guilty about substance abuse
3.using substance to become impaired in hazardous situations, such as driving.
There are many treatment services and availability may vary from where a person lives. Some are based in the community, the person stays at home and goes to the centre on a regular basis. Others involve staying at the treatment facility for a certain period of time.
substances that cause psychological dependence usually act on the brain and have one or more of the following effetcs:
1.changes in mood (feel "high")
2.feelings of superior abilities
3. effects on senses
Physical problems could be liver, lung or heart diseases.
Substance abuse problems aren't clear there are many factors that play a role. mental conditions such as depression and anxiety can play a role, a person's environment such as work, family, friends, religious beliefs can Al's affect substance abuse.
'Nyaope' with a rate of 4% is still a very dangerous drug, as it is a mixture of heroin and cocaine,so it is very addictive. The society, in a way has sort of accepted 'nyaope', they know it is there and they know the implications but still nothing is being done.
