Today is National Voter Registration Day and I want to honor what it took to get us here.

I was proud to introduce and pass a resolution recognizing the NAACP at Commissioners Court. They show that nonpartisan civic power is worth protecting, even when that work comes at a cost.

This weekend @NAACPFWTC heard from this leader who believes in the power of our community at its annual luncheon.

That same belief is needed right here in Tarrant County. Every voter registration, every conversation, every person who makes a plan to VOTE strengthens democracy.

County Judge Tim O’Hare is facing a formal petition for removal AND a new lawsuit for violating First Amendment rights.

Former Rep. Lon Burnam petitioned to have O’Hare removed for official misconduct, for weaponizing his authority to silence constituents at public meetings.

This isn’t the first time Tim has been accused of ignoring the First Amendment.

- A pastor wrongfully denied public comment sued him.
- He had a community activist arrested for speaking out.
- A former legislator was carried out and arrested picking up a microphone.

We celebrated 100 years, but we didn't spend the whole evening looking back. We focused on what's in front of Tarrant County: our public schools, our neighbors' due process, and an election in November that decides all of it.

Happy 100th, Ms. Opal Lee. We intend to keep walking.

Opal Lee didn't wait for permission to change this country. And yesterday, we celebrated her twice.

I joined the Fort Worth Association of Federated Women's Clubs to cut the ribbon on the Opal Lee Mini Library.
My maintenance crew members were excited to assist.

It's a “small” thing, but that's the point. Change doesn’t come from one big moment. Opal Lee believed it came from showing up, over and over.

Last night, we filled @fwmsh for her Centennial Birthday Gala. (Black tie & sneakers, to honor someone who walked her way into history.)

Today, we also stood together with community leaders in the @CityofFortWorth @fwmsh, which (at 3 stories tall) exhibits the largest World Trade Center artifact in Texas.

With more than 22 combined years in 9-1-1 public safety, I know what it means to be a first responder.

But on Sept 11, 2001, I was a worried daughter calling my mother, a flight attendant based at LaGuardia, praying she was okay.

She called back. I was one of the lucky ones.

These may be divisive times. But September 11th reminds us that we are more than our differences. When it matters most, we move forward together working for a better America. 🇺🇸

This morning I spoke at the 9/11 Memorial in Kennedale, where a piece of the World Trade Center stands here in Tarrant County.

We remember the 2,977 lives lost. We honor the victims, their families and first responders who gave everything. And we carry that sacrifice with us.🇺🇸

That is why Trump and the RNC circus decided to roll into the DFW this week.
