My Father broke his leg very badly in an accident 11 years ago

He puts off walking as he doesn't enjoy it anymore

For many years I would say "Dad you got to walk, you can walk Dad" and he would say back "no not today, tomorrow etc"

No matter how much I pushed or how much positive reinforcement I used he would always say "no"

Then one day in Montevideo Uruguay, I said to him "Dad I will get a taxi, there is no way you can walk this"

To which he immediately said "yes I can" and he did just that, he walked further than he had in years

Another time I climbed up a light house in Colonia Uruguay, it was horrible, bendy, with large drops with a small fence around knee height at the top

I came back down and said "Dad you don't want to do that, its horrible"

I learned then that if someone is negative, your positivity won't motivate them but your negativity will
