UPDATE:
34 states, 3 U.S. territories, & the District of Columbia have ordered or recommended school closures for the rest of the academic year.
That's approx. 38.6 million public school students who won't return to classrooms.

@massteacher Honestly I think Dr. OZ made this decision a no brainer for Baker!! With his ignorant risk/reward logic of an acceptable 2% mortality rate if the nation reopened schools.
"Baker’s delayed in taking action to initially close all schools — and the lack of guidelines early in the process for remote learning — both point to the necessity for clear direction & mutual understanding of everyone’s needs." — MTA Pres. Merrie Najimy https://t.co/NOlb1Hro69
@massteacher Absolutely foolish and haphazard logic. Massachusetts has always been in the top % of our country *see NAEP results. The rest of the country has not been working either during this shutdown sooo... our kiddos are still ahead !!!
Note that @MASchoolsK12 continues to update their website with more information on #covid19MA for #MAEdu. Most recently, it includes a presentation on special education (for directors) and an update on school nutrition waivers. https://t.co/fFLZlIXq5E
With our federal testing waiver secured and the state legislation officially enacted....I can now confirm that this spring’s regular administration of MCAS in grades 3-10 is cancelled. Further info on competency determination et al. will be forthcoming.
The House has passed the Senate language on the bill containing regional school budget information, SOA deadline changes, and MCAS suspension and waiver. It has now been laid before the Governor. https://t.co/TnVTwQqc0C
