This week is National Grief Awareness Week.
The aim of this week is to raise awareness of grief, and to help to normalise conversations around it.
What's one thing you wish people knew about grief?
#NGAW#NationalGriefAwarenessWeek#Grief#Bereavement#Cruse
Sometimes it is hard to know what to say to a dying person. Having a conversation about them is a way to not only engage them, but to give them a chance to talk about their life and gives you a chance to know them better. Have you asked questions of your person?
12 ways to make friends,
(And why you should care):
Last year, the U.S. Surgeon General highlighted an ongoing loneliness epidemic:
↳1 in 2 adults report experiencing loneliness
↳This includes young and old, rich and poor, introverts and extroverts
And he outlined loneliness's disastrous impacts on health:
↳Increases anxiety and depression
↳29% increase in heart disease risk
↳50% increase in dementia risk
↳Mortality impact equal to smoking 15 cigarettes a day!
This isn't a problem unique to the United States.
Social isolation has been increasing globally,
And COVID made it worse.
In other words:
Making friends could literally save your life.
But it's hard as an adult!
Use this sheet for ideas on how to get past the initial awkwardness,
And expand your social circle.
You can start these THIS week.
It'll be worth it.
We want to hear your experiences of grief, and Cruse.
By sharing your story you can help other people like yourself and help us to raise the profile of Cruse.

In the latest episode of our podcast, writer and poet @WillEaves talks to us about the death of his friend, Eloise, and his mother, Cecily (pictured with Will as a child). He also explains how learning something new, or returning to an activity that you may have let go in early life like playing the piano, can help you through grief.

Honoured to attend the 2nd European Grief Conference in Dublin with friends from bereavement charities across Ireland, the UK, & Europe. 100M Europeans are bereaved each year, yet grief often remains unseen. This event is a big step toward ensuring no one grieves alone #egc2024
