@Bamdam374376@matthew_petti@deemashqi You are expecting conflict/domination tactics when its foreign policy and strategic culture revolves arnd LT positioning and defusing threats thru win-win. Essentially making China too valuable to be excluded, too powerful to be coerced. The US-China contest is alrdy over.
@Bamdam374376@matthew_petti@deemashqi If they were seeking relative gains, they could have put a squeeze on Trump/Europe through oil prices, even buying futures to offset/profit off oil spikes. If they were as into zero-sum lose-lose BS as US, they could have done that, or armed Iran more, etc.
@matthew_petti Just typical Trump trying to spin to his braindead audience after tacoing on the mess he created. Sure, Russia and esp China could have screwed over US in a million ways. But maybe they are not eager to destroy the US as we've been told, but prefer stabilizing the situation.
@StatisticUrban Yeah what a loser, not even smart enough to start with a 20X bigger country.
Even securing Singapore's survival was a miracle. He husbanded the greatest improvement in human history while building the national identity and institutional foundation from scratch.
@W_T_Han Laughter is the best therapy so I'm eager to see what they come up with next. This has been wildly entertaining for the entire Sinosphere. Wasn't the positive cultural exchange I had in mind. But if they are happy, we are happy, it's win-winπ€
@waitin4agi_ It's worth it to review and fully understand the history of Asia's economic development. They all started as major exporters to build capabilities off of external demand.
China is more analogous to India because of the massive potential market.
@W_T_Han It's like they decided being brown is an embarrassing trait. Then decided to convince the world Chinese are actually brown and should be mocked as such. Not even a Pyrrhic victory, just self immolation.

Had an educational conversation with a farmer last week in the Shanghai suburbs. He approached me while I was relaxing next to one of the canals and asked me if I had ridden my bicycle there (I had). We then started chatting about agriculture in SH.
"Where are you from?"π§΅
If you want to understand the decline for Qing, look back to Qianlong and Jiaqing.
For America, look at Regan and the post 1991 era up to 2008.
The starting point of all declines and social changes is at peak political stability and prosperity. With unquestionable hegemony.
