In his hay day, Sergeant Darran Conlon was a national boxing champion.

His buddy, John Nevin took home the all-Ireland title last week.

Last of my Trilogy of battles with @CoyleBoxing. At this time he was World Military Champion and I was World Police & Fire Games Champion.

Not long after this he was Irish Senior Champion. A great boxer with Heart of a Lion.

When he came into my dressing room after the fight to check his weight he was 75kg and had to put on he bag and skip for the whole night to cut the weight for next morning. I could hardly walk and he was skipping!

Senior Championship 2000. What a quality entry in every weight! I was the first fight of the Championship against a teak tough Tom Fitzgerald. He was good having been beaten in 2 previous senior finals by Michael Roche.

I had just won the Intermediates but from Round 1 I knew I was in the Big Boys Yard. These were 3X3 minute rounds. He beat me on points after a war that left me black and blue. My ribs were sore for a week after him! This was a the old 71kg.
