My husband and I got to go to a wedding yesterday, in a gorgeous spot near Idaho Springs.

Surrounded by aspen and pines we watched a beautiful woman marry a handsome man. In his vows, the groom described his bride: honest, kind, always helping others, a loyal friend, adventurous and more glowing qualities than I can remember.

All true of the woman she is today.

When I first met her a little over four years ago, she was a mess.

She couldn’t stop drinking. Or, she could stop for a few days, then was back to drowning in vodka. She’d been to rehab, therapy, was in IOP, coming to the rooms but not working the steps. It was the one thing she hadn’t tried.

Miserable, anxious, afraid, angry, lonely, isolated, hanging onto a job by a thread. Relationships with family and friends were strained at best. But she was desperate, and willing to be honest when she asked for my help. So, just like the woman who helped me, I took her through the steps. Just like me she began to recover and she was freed from the obsession to drink. It works if we work it.

She met her (now) husband a few days after a year sober. Monday she celebrated 4 years, and yesterday we watched one of her greatest dreams come true as she married the love of her life.

Being recovered isn’t just about being sober. It’s healing physically, mentally, spiritually as our sanity is restored. It’s growing into the woman her groom so lovingly described.

It wasn’t easy. She had some slips early on, but she never gave up. Hopelessness became hope, one day at a time.

So if you’re struggling, ask for help. Do the work. Pray to a God you may not believe in. Know that time takes time, and that today’s misery doesn’t last forever. You can get free. You can know peace. And some of your wildest secret dreams may become real.

We do recover.

Absolutely true. When the 50,000,000 illegals are deported, US has a glut of housing. Prices drop even more dramatically. Young citizens can afford to buy housing. Older and richer home owners and land lords take losses.

Deport the illegals and let free markets fix the problem.

Neighbor is feeling somewhat better. He walks his dogs again. His doctor said he doesn’t know what caused this. Neighbor thinks it might have been the 80 degree temperatures that made his heart freak out. LOL

Should I tell him? How will he react if I tell him I am glad that he is recovering from his vax injury? The ER doctors and his GP didn’t tell him, so why should I?
