🇻🇳 🇨🇺 Vietnam is assisting Cuba with its recently enacted unprecedented economic overhaul by sharing lessons, strategies, and operational frameworks from its 40 years of Đổi Mới (Renewal) reforms, the Vietnam Plus reports.
Facing crippling energy shortages, declining output, and the effects of a prolonged U.S. embargo and a months-long oil blockade, Cuba's Communist Party (PCC) is enacting its deepest economic liberalization since 1959, including steps toward private banking and broader non-state enterprise, and using Vietnam's transition to a market-oriented socialist economy as a model.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has referenced Vietnam and China as the primary ideological and practical blueprints for Cuba's latest emergency economic plans.
Vietnam's transition toward flexible, market-adaptable State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), in particular, could serve as a roadmap for Cuba as it looks to phase out or restructure failing state monopolies, the Latin Times reported.
