BREAKING: Governor Gretchen Whitmer was confronted today in Yipsalnti, Michigan at her daughter's graduation celebration.
"How do you justify genocide?"
“The students have given you OUR DEMANDS” … “if you call the police on us like the President of Columbia did, that is when escalation will happen”…. This is unbelievable. Entitled little fks https://t.co/WZ2IyX1w9i
So again, no “outside agitators” arrested at Columbia generally or inside Hamilton/Hind Hall, which was Columbia’s primary justification for the overwhelming NYPD response we saw last night.
@aaronsibarium Rutgers agreed to put out a statement “acknowledging ongoing genocide”? I guess we can add this to the list of other words academia has been badgered into redefining.
One note I have for progressives marketing team is to rework the “property destruction is not violence” messaging that they love so much. It was a good try but it’s just not being received well by the public.
"Destroying property is not a peaceful protest." This is wrong. Is a building demolition "violent"? Is cutting down a tree? Dismantling an air conditioner? All kinds of contradictions follow when you call property damage "violence" https://t.co/WK9FJ3VhW4
What silly sophistry. Yes, demolishing a building is certainly violence if done w/o owners' consent. This is an argument on the level of, "Throwing projectiles at people is violence? Really? What about tennis? Slashing someone with a knife is violent? But surgery!"
Between bananas, mice, big screens, trumpets and other chaos. UCLA has passed Columbia and taken over the #1 spot in the encampment rankings. We’ll see how Columbia responds.
The Gaza Solidarity activist’s strategy of camping at universities and convincing random mid-sized American cities’ city councils to pass resolutions is so funny.
It's hard to understand why an economics professor showing concern for a student would be thrown to the ground and arrested. This is not an obvious way to defuse a crisis.
“To get to our students, you have to get through us”
Faculty picket in support of the CUNY Gaza Solidarity Encampment at CCNY is currently underway, per footage provided anon.
