Delighted to share our new study uncovering the diversity of crustose coralline algae from the Great Barrier Reef #GBR, Coral Sea and Lord Howe Island. https://t.co/fFfBHA9TAU
Thanks to Prof. Rod Connolly, the Coastal and Marine Research Centre (@Griffith_Uni), & @GriffithARI for the invitation to talk about my research on endangered coral species & mesophotic coral ecosystems. A very engaged audience and lots of follow-up conversations -I had a blast!

We have transplanted 18.750 new eelgrass shoots covering 1 ha last week in Gamborg Fjord, Denmark.
Fingers crossed that they will thrive like we have seen in multiple other Danish fjords.
The greater Gladstone region is such a special part of the world. Another trip done and dusted and another tropical oyster reef found (growing on soft sediment, not rock!).

Nice paper from Ben Scoulding and colleagues in the US, UK and Australia testing a combined acoustics & optics survey method for snapper abundance in a closed area https://t.co/dBHVVhpojo
Check out the latest episode of The Big Fish on ABC to hear more about the great work being done by @ozfishunlimited in collaboration with @Griffith_Uni to monitor restored shellfish reefs in Moreton Bay.

Urchins and morays and spat, oh my!
A bit emotional after the amazing press around oyster reef restoration this week while finishing up my last field trip at Noosa for my PhD. Phenomenal recruitment after only 4 months with some great results to come 🥳
Don't miss next weeks ARI Seminar co-hosted by the #Coastal & #Marine Research Centre. Assoc Prof Chris Brown @bluecology will use his teams work to outline steps to translate good science into practical impacts on the management of #ocean ecosystems @GU_Sciences @Griffith_SciEnv
Excess sediment from land use change and unsustainable development is one of the greatest abatable threats facing freshwater and marine ecosystems, but is missing from global priorities. Read more here: https://t.co/a9DM9bNlIh
Day 2: more @abclandline filming, and so inspired by how hard-working these students are. Absolutely smashed it out of the park and completed all subtidal ROBs - on to the intertidal ones tomorrow! @ozfishunlimited@Griffith_SciEnv
Did you know eating salmon has an environmental footprint on the land, and chicken has one in the sea? Our new research mapped disturbance, nutrients, freshwater use and greenhouse gas emissions of chicken and salmon production. https://t.co/DGV7TCeDlu
And we're off! Time to find some sea cucumbers on the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef. Forecast is at least looking decent. @MEG_MQ@MQSciEng @GBRFoundation
