🚨Should Pepper Spray Have Been Deployed Here Instead of Shooting the Dog in the Head?
Bodycam from July 19, 2026: Little Rock PD Officer Brandon Foster-Todd fatally shoots 1-year-old black Labrador service dog named 'Ammo'.
Owner Thomas Schmidt walks out, says “He’s fine. He’s fine.” Dog runs through the open gate barking. Officer backs ~10 steps into the street and fires one shot to the head.
Schmidt: “Don’t shoot! Don’t shoot!” then “No! Are you kidding me?”
Schmidt later arrested on misdemeanor charges (terroristic threatening, disorderly conduct, attempting to influence a public servant).
Administrative investigation opened.
Police investigated themselves and found no wrongdoing.
Police union says the dog posed an imminent threat; owner’s attorney says deadly force was not a last resort.
❓Have you ever known police to use deadly force as a 'last resort' when it comes to dogs or other animals?
❓Doesn't it always seem that shooting an animal is the 'first resort' and not the last resort?
❓What will it take to make it change?
