Today is the Feast Day of Saint Thomas More, patron saint of politicians and statesmen, and my confirmation saint.

A profound model in my life, in my duties as an elected official I try to imitate him to the best of my abilities. A servant to his country and foremost to God, echoing in his last words before his martyrdom at the hands of King Henry VIII “I die the king’s good servant, but God’s first”

May all elected officials live a life similar to Thomas More, in our service putting God before all else that we may lead our country to greater prosperity and tranquility.
