Rep. Emanuel Cleaver

This is the official Twitter page of Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II, representing Missouri's Fifth District.

The president promised to lower costs on day one.

But after nearly two years in office, the policies of the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress have led to higher inflation, higher fuel prices, higher unemployment, and higher mortgage rates.

A complete failure.

The policies enacted by President Trump and Republicans in Congress have crushed working-class families while further enriching the wealthiest 1%.

The American people deserve so much better.

Trump ran on tax cuts. But his economic policies have driven up taxes and costs for all but the wealthiest 1% of Americans, a think tank reports. https://t.co/MvfxRrfhKK

Vladimir Putin is directly responsible for the deaths of countless innocent civilians in Ukraine.

The Trump administration’s support of his regime only encourages the continuation of his despicable invasion and the deaths of civilians.

It’s sickening to watch.

Witkoff to Putin: “You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian — you are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that.”

“Food distribution programs are getting less food from federal programs to feed the hungry after cuts by the Trump administration."

“At the same time, restrictions on food stamps from the Republicans’ ‘big, beautiful bill’ have driven up demand, while rising gas prices because of the Iran war have cut into the budgets of households and food banks alike.”

The President of the United States has decided to side with a murderous dictator and our adversaries in Russia, rather than standing with our freedom-loving and democratic allies in Ukraine.

The Congress must push back against the president’s disastrous foreign policy before more damage is done.

“It was the second time in two years that the president authorized billions of dollars in bailout money for farmers harmed by his administration’s policies”

Missouri farmers want lower fuel prices, open markets, and free trade—not inadequate government bailouts.

The president’s disastrous war is driving up interest rates and the cost of critical materials, which is crushing construction of affordable housing and pushing the American dream of homeownership further out of reach.

Hardworking families deserve better.

The Serbian people deserve free and fair elections on Oct 25.

Violence, intimidation, and surveillance by the government around these elections de-legitimizes the result and is antithetical to democracy.

I call on Serbian authorities to uphold the rule of law and the safety of journalists, voters, and observers.

The president’s extreme mass deportation agenda is disgraceful.

Those who are willing to put themselves in harm’s way to protect our freedoms should not have their families ripped apart.

[Rep. Emanuel Cleaver @repcleaver]

While hardworking families are struggling to stay afloat under the disastrous policies of this administration, the president of the United States is focused on breaking the law to renovate a golf course in Washington, D.C.

The American people deserve better.

[Aaron Rupar @atrupar]

Trump: "The United States Department of Interior wants to take a terrible and very unsafe golf course, and make it into a great, safe, and prestigious golf course. They have an absolute right to do so. It’s as simple as that! The judge on the case is a crazed lunatic whose courthouse tapes will reveal, may be insane? The tapes have been blocked from usage by the judge. The random golfer bringing the ridiculous lawsuit has ZERO STANDING! The experts at 'Interior' are allowed to do this First Class renovation 'as of right.' They do not need an approval. Work is scheduled to begin IMMEDIATELY! The finished product will be World Class, and bring income and great prestige back to D.C. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT"

“Cleaver said he hopes that Medicaid funding can be restored to the federal budget when a new Congress convenes next year”

Republican cuts to Medicaid are hurting Missourians across #MO05.

I’ll never stop fighting to ensure families get the care they need.

The decision to withhold access to Starlink is a betrayal of the Ukrainian people, who are fighting for their freedom against Russian aggression.

It is a deeply disgraceful action that diminishes our standing on the world stage and undermines our alliances around the world.

[Erin Banco @ErinBanco]

NEW: The order to limit a satellite system used by Ukraine for battlefield communications and drone operations came from inside the White House, according to two US officials and a Western official briefed on the matter.

[Rep. Emanuel Cleaver @repcleaver]

The president is either delusional or lying to the American people.

Since he launched the disastrous war in the Middle East, supported by Republicans in Congress, the cost of everything from gas to groceries has skyrocketed.

And hardworking families are paying the price.

[Steve Rattner @SteveRattner]

Trump says prices are coming “way down.” Inflation is 3.7% and has risen in three of the last five months. Core inflation rose in September too.

In the United States of America, no one should have to fear for their safety in their place of worship.

I’m thankful that no one was injured in this despicable attempt at mass violence.

Together, we must continue to condemn and push back against bigotry and hate in all forms.

[Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi @CongressmanRaja]

My family and I were worshipping at our Hindu temple in Aurora on Sunday when a white supremacist attempted a mass shooting targeting Indian Americans. I'm grateful to those who helped prevent a tragedy, but we must come together to confront the hatred that put so many innocent lives at risk.

[Rep. Emanuel Cleaver @repcleaver]

My heart breaks for the Silver Rail Elementary community as they endure unimaginable pain.

I join our fellow Americans in praying for the victims and their families—but those prayers must be backed by action.

In the wake of this latest mass shooting, we must come together and enact common sense gun safety legislation that will prevent these tragedies.

Thank you @repcleaver for supporting #biodiesel producers and keeping the #RFS strong.

[Rep. Emanuel Cleaver @repcleaver]

The president is completely detached from reality.

Billionaires and his Big Oil donors may be making more money than ever—but working-class families are struggling to stay afloat due to his disastrous policies

[Aaron Rupar @atrupar]

Trump: "Our country is making more money than it has ever made because of the fact that oil is so high"

[Rep. Emanuel Cleaver @repcleaver]

“Nearly three-quarters said they struggled to pay for food, housing, medical care or daily transportation in the past year…”

A direct result of the failed policies of this administration and Republicans in Congress.

[Rep. Emanuel Cleaver @repcleaver]

Another extremely concerning inflation report that shows prices continue to rise due to the president’s disastrous war in the Middle East.

It’s about time that Republicans in Congress joined with Democrats to end this quagmire and provide relief to American families.

[Rep. Emanuel Cleaver @repcleaver]

Biofuel keeps commodity prices competitive for farmers, sustains tens of thousands of rural manufacturing jobs, and delivers measurable savings at the pump for working families.

That’s why I joined dozens of lawmakers to urge the administration to uphold their commitment to America’s biofuel industry.
