I propose a "50% Remigration" project, with a target of remigrating 50% of foreigners, for the first phase.

Keep the best half, get rid of the rest. Easy to explain. Easy to defend.

Go first for the low-hanging fruit. Apply the 80/20 rule. Then work down through the slightly more difficult tranches until the 50% figure is hit. It can be done quickly. Did I mention the 80/20 rule?

After phase one ("50% Remigration") is complete, THEN review. We have established proof of concept. The public are on board. Now: do we need another phase? Another 50% of what's left? Maybe just a quarter?

WHO REALLY EMPLOYS IRELAND?
The answer might surprise you.

• Total people employed in Ireland (Q3 2025): 2,825,500

• People employed by IDA-backed multinational companies (the industrial development authority whose role is to attract foreign investment: 312,400

• That means only 11% of all workers are employed by multinational companies.

• The other 89% of workers are employed elsewhere.

Who actually keeps Ireland running?

• SMEs (small and medium-sized businesses) make up 99.8% of all Irish businesses.

• They employ around two-thirds of the private sector workforce.

• According to the Central Bank, 64% of private sector workers are employed in businesses that depend on the Irish economy, not foreign investment.

These are the people who keep the country going:

* Pubs and restaurants
* Builders
* Plumbers
* Electricians
* Hairdressers
* Mechanics
* Care workers
* Taxi drivers
* Thousands of other local businesses

What changed in 2025?

• The Central Bank said the entire increase in employment in Q3 2025 came from non-Irish citizens.

• Employment among Irish citizens remained broadly flat.

• So while jobs are being created, the data indicates they were not increasing employment among Irish citizens during that period.

The wider question

• More workers also means greater demand for housing, transport, healthcare and other public services.

• Ireland is already struggling with shortages in many of these areas.

The bottom line

• Multinationals employ 11% of the workforce.

• 89% of workers are employed outside IDA client companies.

• Small businesses and the domestic economy are what employ the vast majority of people and keep everyday life functioning.

These figures challenge the claim that foreign direct investment is the main source of employment across the Irish economy.

Any job that can be done by someone from another country is up for grabs under mass immigration. That was virtually all jobs in Ireland before 2000.
True, now there is a new class of jobs that has arisen as a result if mass immigration, the jobs required to sleep the system going. The NGO, legal, DEI, academic jobs that support the mass immigration economy.
These are mostly done by Irish people currently as there is local knowledge required.
However this sector can never, by definition (as it's a cost that must be paid for out of the tax take of the mass immigration economy), be larger than the mass immigration economy itself. It has an upper limit at say 30% of GDP.
And increasingly immigrants will gain the experience and incentives to work these jobs too.
