@BuildUK Is @BuildUK for the workers, for the construction companies or for the government? It seems like they are ignoring the workers and the government and looking after the self interested bosses of the construction companies.
To help ensure people stay at home, we need urgent clarity from the Government on:
▶️ Financial security for self-employed Londoners, freelancers and those in the gig economy
▶️ A clear definition of who is an ‘essential’ worker

1000's of employees are being forced to work from the office despite being able to work from home. The construction industry is treating their employees like disposable assets.

Construction workers in London are starting to get calls to urgently work at the ExCel Centre to help set up the Nightingale Hospital.
We can all agree that THIS is critical work.
Trade Unions must also be invited onsite to assist with worker H&S.

No social gatherings of more than 2 people outside.
But it's perfectly fine for tens of thousands of construction workers to meet up on building sites that are still open all around the country.

@thirtymumthing@piersmorgan@BorisJohnson Completely agree. The construction companies are not above the government. It is very clear- work at home if you can and protect your workforce. Don't treat them like disposable assets.
The British Govt. thinks large groups of construction workers can do their job whilst maintaining a 2-metre distance from each other.
This just tells me they’ve never been near a construction site & haven’t got a clue what they’re saying re social distancing.
Cc. @BorisJohnson
What about those in construction who do not work on site? Project managers, designers, architectures, Quants, the list is endless- 1000's of staff have been told they can only work from the office.
Work that "cannot be done from home".
You CAN'T visit your family, be in a group of 2+, but you CAN go to a construction site of 300 co-workers? we need proper #lockdown. Construction needs clarity
