@mattyglesias@brianbeutler By the way, Bernie Sanders has endorsed Blue Dog moderate Rebecca Cooke in Wisconsin. He also endorsed and supported Talarico in Texas and Sherrod Brown in Ohio.
@mattyglesias@brianbeutler I've talked to Bernie people that Diana DeGette is a fake progressive. There are several members of Congress who pretend to support Medicare 4 All by cosponsoring it. However, they quietly behind the scenes kill it in committee.
@SER1897 They can't because it would just devolve into more infighting and factionalism. They can't control the insurgency and rely on the institution for funding. Slotkin was correct that the leadership needs to change. They are outspending DSA 3 to 1 and still losing.
@libtard_ant@admcrlsn They won't block him. Ultimately Dem voters want legislation passed. They will be given concessions and committee assignments as bribes.
@admcrlsn This is an excellent analysis. Lefties online hate Jeffries way too much. He has been an effective leader with redistricting. The DCCC has generally picked good candidates as well for swing districts.
@magi_jay You have a good point, but to pretend moderates are blameless is disingenuous. They attack progressives when they lose their own races. They freakout whenever a progressive wins a primary. The result is intraparty polarization.
@NickyFrank30 Lol, you are delusional. I live in a swing district and Republicans always fear monger. The attack ads that made my Congressman lose their seat in 2024 was bullshit lies. The ads depicted him as a communist who wanted to trans their kids. It wasn't any progressive policy.
@mattyglesias Jeffries has been pretty effective. Jason Crow and Suzan DelBene have recruited excellent swing district candidates that don't get media attention. Schumer's Senate picks seemed kind of obvious to me. I don't think he deserved much credit.
@WhickTv@conorjrogers The Republican Tea Party only had 2 incumbents lose their seat in 2010. People seem to not know this? They mainly won open seats.
@Info_Cntrl@ThirdWayMattB I find it funny that Matt Bennet says this because the Tea Party did the exact same thing. They won safe rural Republican districts in 2010. It built a base of power and moved the Republican party to the right.
@ElliscbIV I highly doubt DAC wins. She is a tankie and won't persuade anyone. Mamdani has taken a big risk on candidates that aren't very charismatic. Lander is going to win because Goldman is too moderate for his district.
@DumpTrump_45@Ericrse37986 Claire Valdez is normie coded and is a YIMBY. Reynoso has been a NIMBY in the past from 2019 - 2023. He only shifted his position in 2024. DAC is a tankie and even as a progressive who would vote for Zohran, I would not vote for her.
@alaaklf_@NateBlanchett Yeah, I have my problems with the DSA candidates. Particularly, DAC not wanting to deport illegal immigrants who commit crimes. However, what does their ethnic background have to do with it?
@trouble_man90 Bernie Sanders endorsed Hilary Clinton and Biden my guy. He campaigned for them relentlessly, we're not talking about randos on X. Sitting politicians need to back the nominee.
@TerryWatkinsJr1 He has literally endorsed several Blue Dog Democrats in the past and one this cycle in Wisconsin: Rebecca Cooke. Some people need to do their research.
@Wilson__Valdez Tammy Baldwin is one of the most progressive members in the Senate. Ron Johnson is a tea party conservative. The demographic makeup of Wisconsin has a ton of Urban progressive activists and rural voters. Its the only swing state you can win that doesn't have many swing voters.
@ShabazzStuart Yeah, it should be noted Tom Suozzi, Laura Gillen, Richie Torres, etc. refused to rally behind Zohran after the primary. Many of them endorsed the independent bid of Cuomo.
