Every UK citizen should read @JamesMelville 's post and reflect on the fact that the scientifically, mathematically and economically illiterate ideologue, Milliband, and the Labour Govt under Starmer are destroying the UK economy and causing more and more taxation of decent hard working women and men in the fatuous pursuit of something called "Net Zero".

Even if you believe the unproven hypothesis that human generated CO2 in the atmosphere is the on/off switch for the temperature of the planet the contribution of the UK is beyond miniscule.

At present the atmospheric concentration of the trace gas CO2 is ~420 ppm:
PLEASE NOTE that is parts per MILLION ....
...... it is a trace gas!

Just 420 molecules among a million other gas molecules.
0.04 per cent of the atmosphere.

A very very trace gas, but one upon which all life on Earth depends.
The human body itself is built of millions of molecules all of which were derived from atmospheric Carbon dioxide.

Now here is the result of some simple primary school arithmetic.......

If the UK stopped ALL human generated CO2 emissions TOMORROW it might succed in preventing the addition of just one single molecule to the existing level of 420 ppm.

That is: CO2 concentration would remain at 420 parts per million rather than rise to 421 parts per million!

....... BUT .... it would take 1,500 years for the UK to achieve that miniscule effect .......

Let me repeat that:
1,500 years to prevent one additional CO2 molecule in a milllion others .....
... And only assuming it stopped ALL CO2 emissions TOMORROW!

Of course, even after 1,500 years that ONE single, lonely little molecule in a million others would not, could not possibly, make any difference to "global temperature" (whatever that ill-defined amorphous concept might mean - which is not much!)

Let me repeat the point calculated from widely accepted values, and using primary school arithmetic.

The great Milliband/UK Govt crusade for Net Zero would only save the addition of ONE single molecule of CO2 to the million others in the atmosphere:

BUT only after 1,500 years having destroyed all civilization in the UK and reduced the nation to poverty and mud huts!

AND the Earth's climate and weather will still be determined by solar and planetary factors far byond human control - as it has been since its creation.

THUS
Anthropogenic CO2 emissions from the UK can make no difference to the climate or the weather.

Not today, Not tomorrow, Not in 2030, Not in 2050, not even in 3500 AD that is ~50 generations away - BUT still no difference.
