@FavColour_Green Great thread as always - thank you for sharing. Do we have any insights what in the summer means for reopening - the vagueness is so frustrating when so much has been stalled already. Thanks again
WTAF?! Is anyone else listening to Farming Today on @BBCr4today? So it turns out farmers were right and the Government is WRONG. Far, far more farmers will be impacted by IHT than they are saying. Listen on @BBCSounds
@AnnaLongthorp Same! Its complex, its hard to get it but doesn’t make it any less frustrating.I read a thread of someone from NHS saying how its right money being redirected to NHS, no recognition of the poor #health of the nation&that we’re on the same ‘side’ #prevention over cure,or lack of!

@HLFoodObesity chair Baroness Walmsley will take listeners on an in-depth exploration of what experts said during its recent inquiry.
@sussexfarming Yep. Its money the government are paying farmers for a service, a contract that farmers have with the government. Money that is owed to farmers not some generous gift or subsidy
This is a really good, fair explanation of the #FamilyFarmTax issue by @pkelso on @SkyNews
The only caveat that I will add is that up until now farmers have been effectively advised to do nothing because all options like the 7 year rule etc have potential stings in their tails and come with risk.
Which leaves many elderly farmers (average age is over 60 I think) with very few options…
@StuartMaggs - I think this is a good summary. What do you think?
Very well put by @ProagriLtd today in Parliament. People need to understand the bigger picture and how this could decimate UK food production and damage self sufficiency too.
When it’s necessary for Efra to signpost farmers access to mental health & financial crisis support, something has clearly gone badly wrong with policy.
#FamilyFarmTax
For those affected by discussions during this morning's session. The following organisations can offer support:

@AnnaLongthorp@NoFarmsNoFoods@agricontract@1GarethWynJones@wheat_daddy We all have a responsibility to talk about this to those not as connected to farming as we are.I plan to bore my hockey team, the parents of my kid’s friends & anyone else who will listen. This disconnect the population has from food production and nature is not our friend
This isn’t going to go away.
Government can either help farmers deliver on food, the environment & climate in partnership, or it can double down, fail to achieve on any of those goals, and suffer this as a continuous running sore.

Speaking today at the @CommonsEFRA inquiry into the future of farming, NFU President Tom Bradshaw (@ProagriLtd) provided evidence to the Committee on how the #FamilyFarmTax will devastate British agriculture. 🧵 1/4
