Today was a sad day for traffic safety in Vaughan.
I was one of many who spoke in favor of keeping automated speed enforcement. Every deputation called for safer roads, spoke about children who have died, and asked that we protect vulnerable people. Yet politics won over safety.
The mayor cited a man with multiple tickets as justification for ending the program. If the concern is hardship, options could be created to deal with that. Instead, an entire program that took years to build is being scrapped. That means not only lost safety gains, but wasted contracts and taxpayer dollars.
Automated enforcement doesn’t go through traditional courts anymore, it’s handled by the City. If leadership wanted to create fairness or flexibility, they had the power to do it. Instead, they chose to throw away a proven tool.
Alberta already tried removing cameras. Collisions went up. They’ve since brought them back because the evidence is clear.
This was a quick, quiet meeting with little notice to the community. That raises real concerns. At the end of the day, accountability behind the wheel should never be optional. I hope this decision doesn’t end tragically, but if it does, we’ll look back on today as the moment it could have been prevented.

This isn’t a fun ride. It’s organized criminal behavior.
What we’re seeing isn’t a few riders messing around. This is a coordinated group, possibly 50 strong, moving as a gang on illegal off-road vehicles.
They are riding electric motorcycles, gas-powered dirt bikes, and high-speed scooters with no licence plates, no insurance, and no valid licensing. These vehicles are not legal for public roads, yet they are being operated everywhere: on streets, on sidewalks, and through community spaces like Celebration Square in Mississauga.
They weave through traffic, pedestrians, and families with no regard for safety. This is not just dangerous, it is lawless and totally unacceptable.
Jail, not bail.
Seize the bikes. Prosecute the riders.
The Highway Traffic Act needs to be updated. Police need the tools, support, and authority to deal with this.
Enough is enough!

Snow White Was a Trainwreck… But I Found Redemption on @netflix | Ask a Traffic Cop Update
Just watched the new Snow White and… wow. It sucked. Hands down the worst movie I’ve ever seen. Disney, I want my money back.
Thankfully, @Netflix_CA came through with a gem — Adolescence. It’s a slow-burn police procedural, but if you’re into that sort of thing (and you should be), it’s absolutely worth the watch.
Also, don’t miss Ask a Traffic Cop — I’m live Monday at 10am ET to answer your traffic and police questions. And if you’re into the late-night vibe, join me for Ask a Traffic Cop After Dark Tuesday at 9pm ET. Bring your questions, bring your curiosity — let’s talk.

Today was my first visit to Chick-fil-A, and it definitely won’t be my last! I stopped by to support their amazing promotion for police and firefighters—offering a free meal to those in uniform or with valid ID from March 17th to 22nd.
I didn’t go for the free meal—I went to support the business. But I have to say, from the moment I walked in, I was blown away. The food? Fantastic. The service? Impeccable. The restaurant? Spotlessly clean. And the people? Some of the friendliest you’ll meet.
Chick-fil-A has just earned a customer for life. Their commitment to customer service is obvious, and their appreciation for those who serve the community is real. I even gave the manager a challenge coin and some stickers—turns out, he knew me from Ask a Traffic Cop! So did some of the staff working the dining area. Just a great experience all around.
Can’t say enough good things!

🚨 Distracted Driving is an Addiction – Stop Risking Lives! 🚨
In this excerpt from Ask a Traffic Cop, I tell it like it is—because that’s what I do. Using your phone while driving isn’t just a bad habit; it’s an addiction. If you can’t control yourself, put it in the trunk. It’s as serious as impaired driving and causes collisions every single day.
In Ontario, a distracted driving ticket will cost you $615, a suspension on conviction, and a nice little surprise from your insurance company. Spoiler: you won’t like it.
Got questions about traffic safety, traffic law, or police stuff? I’m your guy. Former traffic cop Sean Shapiro, and I go LIVE Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10 a.m. Eastern. Ask me anything—just don’t do it while driving.
🔥 Like, comment, and share to keep our roads safer! 🔥

🚨 Can You LEGALLY Drive 5-10 km Over the Speed Limit? 🚨
A viewer asked if they could legally drive 5-10 km/h over the posted speed limit. Sean’s answer? No. The speed limit is just that—the maximum speed you’re legally allowed to travel. Anything over is speeding, and speeding is illegal.
But will you actually get a ticket for going 5 km/h over? You could. That said, officers typically focus on drivers going much faster. That doesn’t make it legal, though, and any ticket can impact your driving record and insurance.
📢 #AskATrafficCop goes LIVE Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10 AM to answer your traffic and police questions. Follow for more! 🚗💨 #TrafficLaw #Speeding #DrivingTips #RoadSafety @diamond_lawyers
