Found a winning ad? Don't just raise the budget.
Make 5 versions of it: โ new hook โ new face โ new format (static, video, UGC) โ new avatar โ new awareness level
One winner should turn into five.
Make hypotheses as to why it won and beat it.
"Should I run image ads or video?"
Both. They reach different people.
Images: fast to make, easy to test new angles. Video: better at explaining how the product works.
Test the angle with an image. Scale it with a video.
Advanced Copywriting Tip: Don't Say This in Your Copy
Don't say "Believe me" or "Trust me" when crafting copy.
Why?
Because that immediately makes the reader NOT believe/trust you.
Instead, show people why you can be trusted through credentials, past results, or testimonials.
Been journaling for 3 years now and I can trace my journey as a copywriter to this.
Once again, another gem of a tweet from @staridris72
FYI, dude's a killer CS, DM him if you're interested
Journalling has really helped a lot
I started a few months ago and whenever I'm stuck on what to do, I go there
And whenever I'm over thinking stuff (which I do a lot), I go there
It's like a personal therapist
Really recommend
"If it works for them, it will work for me"
Something I've learnt lately in Creative Strategy is the importance of an extreme yet relatable persona.
Cuz in the prospects head, that boosts the credibility of the product 100x
What a privilege it is to have clients who are as committed to your growth as a creative strategist as you are ๐ฅน
I'll tell the full story publicly some day... in the meantime, I'm off to leveling up
Pretty mad how thereโs marketing degrees when you think about itโฆ
Imagine paying 9 grand a year to earn less and know less than me, a dude who paid $97 a month for @ecomuniversity and watched some YouTube vids about it lmao.
Not to mention Iโve turned it into a higher than average income at 22 in like a year and a half of learning it.
And I could have done that earlier too lmao.
Just shows how far ahead of the curve us with entrepreneurial mindsets are.
Pay attention to the test projects.
Cuz if you know your stuff as a CS, you'd understand that by the time you reseqrch first, second and third party data for a new brand for free, you're basically getting cheated.
๐ฉCREATIVE STRATEGY RED FLAGS๐ฉ
1- Mandatory daily calls.
Seriously tf is the point?
One weekly call is fair enough...
But spending about an hour on a call every day is a waste of time, I can spend that making ads lmao.
2- "3 years experience required"
This usually means they want to hire seniors and pay them junior prices.
AVOID.
3- free test projects
They want to scam you for free work.
Any I've missed?
Kinda agree.
And for the second reason, I'll add that humiliation sold them.
It's hard pill for the general public to swallow but the numbers on ad accounts don't lie... pain sells more than positive benefits.
Killer breakdown from @staridris72 BTW
3 main reason why this ad worked:
1. The avatar is clearly a man in his 40s based in the UK, relatability
2. Their biggest fear is taking off their shirt in public
3. The mechanism sounds complicated hence believable
Networking is so fucking important.
You donโt know whatโs on the other side of a conversation with a fellow entrepreneur.
Yet people will do outreach instead๐๐๐
You can write a few words on Twitter which takes about 10 minutes a dayโฆ
While being unapologeticโฆ.
And will more than likely have better luck with clients.
