@JonesWard2@ChristyALaverty@CentroGarden Looks like you have deleted the original tweet to this string. But you aren’t ashamed? To remind folks, you attacked the market as elitist. Suggested it should be replaced by the city. A “real” market. Means spending real tax $ instead of free community shoulders & volunteerism.
@LisaBull1 Looks like @Ward2Lisa responded to the letter already. Appears the people signed up. Hopefully they just forgot and it’s not another bully hater attack tactic. Kinda feels like it though. https://t.co/wr5nHT0uQ3
I proudly stand up for myself and my integrity. As I’ve previously stated, all my email communication lists were attained with permission including these Ward 2 residents who wrote the clerk. I believe they simply forgot they signed up on the newsletter form. #integrity
@Chris_Ariens ... and you believe that? We’ll have to see. Adi dev said the same thing for Martha st. A lie. Carriage said the same over at Caroline. Didn’t happen. There is no accountability to price or layout. Only height if we enforce rules. It’s just marketing.
@Chris_Ariens And I hear ya. If that product wasn’t disruptive and needing the infra, and was affordable, and had some employment space or useful mix like Harbourview, it would be hard to say no. But it doesn’t. None do as proposed.
@Chris_Ariens Yikes. Ironically for your argument the lowest $ of the marketed condos in #dtburlon is actually the low-rise Saxony. Top $ is $1.5M. Rest are 2x that. Higher average too. Let’s ask for more low-rise then ok? https://t.co/LUBd762Oj9
@AndrewM46328930 @OfInformed @TaylorChrissy_ @GregDWoodruff @KellysBake @kellychildsxo@DTBurlingtonON@tvo Mind if I just... avoid the facts in plain sight — these price lists we can all look up — lists showing that together these condos are selling for $ average well above $1.5M — but I’ll just continue to wear this silly liars hat and fool people to distort reality. 👉🏼👁
@Chris_Ariens@AndrewM46328930 Ah, didn’t we just conclude that the proposed builds were just for older demographic? That’s not the kind of growth we need. Done. Move on. Try to solve how to build the right product that suits younger, businesses and culture and we have it. But propose more luxury and you fail.
@BurlWaterfront@JFJustTheFacts@mindifijust @OfInformed @RickGoldring@MariannMeedWard You sound like your sensationalizing friends. Nothing goes backwards. But moving forward we can resume reasonable steps to intensification. Nothing old about that. Your developer interests are just greed. Bad for community.
@Chris_Ariens@AndrewM46328930 Wha, wait! Who said we NEED to build? The developers right? Yah. That’s not our moral obligation nor need of the many that are here. It’s a want of the few who build. That’s all. No illusion. Saying we need it is a fabrication. Building is a profit business, not a public service.
@AndrewM46328930@Chris_Ariens I suppose when the streets are dug up to upgrade infrastructure, water, sewer, power, it‘ll be BS. When the traffic studies result in widening lakeshore and other feeder streets, that’ll be BS. Easy solution. Leave #dtburlon as is and allow it to evolve without mega builds.
@OfInformed @SLPrecinct@JFJustTheFacts@mindifijust@RickGoldring@MariannMeedWard@cityburlington@DTBurlingtonON The retailers say that these proposed new builds bring only the same age and demographic of the existing tall builds. And that these folks, though wonderful, are away a lot in summer and winter. Not reliable for business health. Retailers say need better mix of ages and incomes.
@OfInformed @SLPrecinct@JFJustTheFacts@mindifijust@RickGoldring@MariannMeedWard@cityburlington@DTBurlingtonON Well, we have actually, over many years. Many many are family and friends. You are misleading again. They want more of the right visitors. More shopping foot traffic. More buyers and diners. More people does not equal more success. Just ask many during SOM or Ribfest. No sales.
@AndrewM46328930@Chris_Ariens Mega-condos need significant infrastructure invest not covered by dvlpmnt fees. Tax payers cover. Then no amenity in these builds. We lose lose. Or share cost to build amenity low-rise resi mixed use, bring more business people & shoppers, more culture, more lifestyle. Win again.
@OfInformed @CoreResidents@JFJustTheFacts@mindifijust@RickGoldring@MariannMeedWard@cityburlington The concept that new builds is a measure of success is a fallacy created by developers. The gig is up. Developers don’t build community. People build community. Our #dtburlon retailers build community & economy. Dvlprs only take, capitalize on what communities make attractive.
