Next steps are to begin internship hunting in the area of environmental/health/research and continuing to hone in on what I would love to do as a career. This semester and last really showed me I would love to continue in this area #prescottbiochemistry
@Katrina_UNHM It really is interesting how efficient metabolism is considering all of the pathways and potentials for the molecules to interact with one another #prescottbiochemistry
@JKC5538 From my experience in a neurology dept, it is also prescribed to a lot of epileptic patients to offset some of the effects of their medications. There are also quite a few metabolic disorders that cause global developmental delay that this is prescribed for #prescottbiochemistry
These researchers detailed the process of carnitine metabolism in detail

My favorite concept to understand this semester has been the in-depth details of the citric acid cycle. I've mostly learned about glycolosis, but the subject of TCA has shown how diverse and interwoven it is with the number of inputs and outputs being used #prescottbiochemistry
@DanielGacharna1 Nice read. As Milto said, though, the decrease in mitochondrial potential would possibly be systemic. It brings to question if the therapy would be worth it, or if the therapy could be targeted to specific tumors, as glial cells are a necessary component #prescottbiochemistry
@selmahodzic15 Great article which highlights how many of the systems, diseases, and disorders that are rampant in the US seem to be correlated. #prescottbiochemistry
@LudmillaSommer1 This seems to relate to when we were hunter-gatherers and often went through alternating periods of feast or famine. #prescottbiochemistry
Hey #sciencetwitter, what is the purpose of the 3 different subunits of pyruvate kinase? What is the benefit of having multiple forms? #prescottbiochemistry
@raidersoccer It's these types of realizations that put in perspective all kinds of previous knowledge and it is applied in the real world. #prescottbiochemistry
@Mackenz48640719 I thought the same thing! The evolutionary impact catalysts have had is incredible! Just imagine how much less efficient a system would be without them #prescottbiochemistry
@TinaByrd46 This really is a bridging class as @drsarahgrace mentioned at the beginning of the term. It really brings so many of the classes and concepts together that we've learned thus far in our UNH stay! #prescottbiochemistry
One #lightbulbmoment for me sounds simple, but was when I finally understood what a carbohydrate is. It's a hydrated carbon chain! Le sigh... #prescottbiochemistry
