Jimmy Grammig '21, who is completing a year as part of the Mission Corps at Jesuit High School, gave a powerful Convocation presentation this morning and made the students aware of an amazing service opportunity.

Grammig, a University of @NotreDame graduate, shared his personal story of being diagnosed with LGMD, Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy, at the age of 6, and the incredible impact the annual week-long Muscular Dystrophy Association Camp has had on his life. Each summer, campers at MDA Camp were paired with a counselor for the week. Andy Wood '92 was Grammig's counselor, and the "boatload" of Jesuit students who accompanied Wood as camp counselors created an experience that Grammig says changed his life.

After several decades, a few years ago MDA Camp changed the minimum age for counselors from 16 to 18, cutting off the opportunity for current Jesuit students. However, Grammig announced that the age requirement has been moved back to 17, opening the door for rising seniors to once again serve at MDA Camp.

🇺🇸 Most Americans have never heard of Patriots Day, and almost no one outside the U.S. knows it exists.

Yet it’s one of the most action-packed holidays in the country, and it holds a lot of significance.

Celebrated only in Massachusetts and Maine, it marks the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the opening shots of the American Revolution.

Every year, on the third Monday of April (today), Boston holds its marathon at dawn, the Red Sox play a morning home game at America’s oldest ballpark, and reenactors fire muskets at each other in the suburbs.

In 2013, two bombs were detonated near the finish line, killing 3 people and injuring hundreds more.

The following year, Boston came back with record crowds lining the route, the city's defiance becoming as much a part of the day's identity as the race itself.

The world's oldest annual marathon, a sold-out ballpark, a 250-year-old battle, and the stubborn refusal to be broken, all on the same morning, all in the same city.

Okay so,

1) an American citizen exercises his First Amendment right to peaceably assemble and his Second Amendment right to bear arms, out of apparent concern that a tyrannical federal government is violating basic protections afforded under the Constitution

2) after coming to the aid of an unarmed woman who's been shoved to the ground by a masked federal agent, the citizen -- impaired by pepper spray, holding nothing but a cell phone -- is dragged to the ground by a group of other masked agents

3) during the scuffle, shortly after one masked agent removes the weapon from the restrained citizen's person, several other masked agents open fire, unloading 10 shots from close range and killing the unarmed citizen

4) despite video evidence, a spokesman for the federal government says the citizen approached agents with a gun, provoked a violent confrontation, and planned to "massacre" law enforcement

You really want to defend this? Go ahead. Just know, you look like an absolute fool.
