STAAR scores are great but a ton of teachers leave amid the awesomeness??? Don't believe the hype.
HISD schools rocked by teacher exodus before Monday return:

@bofrench@Ohio_Man420@BenjaminPDixon The gigantic level of hypocrisy that is being spewed from your mouth is mind boggling. And yes the point of tax dollars is to benefit the people who pay them otherwise why do we bother asking for taxes? Do you know what Taxation without Representation is?
This map probably haunts John Whitmire at night.
A METRO system that expands on the original plans from 2004 and could move thousands of Houstonians a day. Extended light rail lines within the city and commuter lines to the suburbs.

The short answer? Money and control.
Updating the Astrodome would cost close to $1 billion once you factor in bringing it up to code, structural repairs, and preserving its historic status.
A brand new facility is $300M and gives the Rodeo complete control over the space.
The $120,000+ wasted salary could have paid for the new trash fee for over 2000+ working class Houstonian families.
The Mayor’s $60,000 podcast he could have produced for free in a library could have paid the fee for over 1000 working class Houstonian families.
Texas schools are getting nearly $2,000 less per student in necessary funding than they were just a few years ago.
At the same time, the State of Texas has prioritized $51 billion in property tax cuts.
And now we’re seeing the consequences.
IDK how the mayor can say the budget has "overwhelming support" when there's a whole ass movement with hundreds of very informed people and orgs who oppose it, or at least who oppose aspects of it. That does not seem very "overwhelm" to me.
I hope everyone sees this for what it is. Houston ISD, Beaumont ISD, Ft Worth ISD and potentially Austin ISD under state control.
The dismantling of public education couldn’t be more blatant.
Today is the last day of early voting! 🗳️
This is your chance to cast your ballot for safer streets, affordable housing, and transparency at city hall.
Let's build a better Houston, together.
If you’re going to charge a fee for services, residents deserve an explanation on where that money is going.
How will this monthly fee directly improve our trash pick up? How will this departmental shift improve operations? These are the things I’ll be looking out for.
Where do you think you got the money from?
From OUR CITIES in the Texas triangle which supply 77% of Texas’s GDP!
You tax us but then put all the money in small towns and never give our cities the & that we actually deserve.
And then yall have the gall to put red tape on how we can use our own money for our own budgets while lecturing us about freedom!
Let Houston be Houston!
All he had to do was undermine the Ordinance he voted for on Wednesday by Thursday night.
I'm not voting for anyone endorsed by HPOU.
An HPOU endorsement needs to be treated as a bright red flag going forward.
WW3 has been put on hold, ICE administrative warrants have lost their luster in Houston policing, and Bill King is calling all Christians to heed their better angels.
It's a good day.
