BREAKING: Microsoft, $MSFT, is offering buyouts to 60,000 workers as part of the company’s efforts to cut costs amid AI adoption, per Bloomberg.
Personnel on select teams in the US, Canada, India, and the UK at a vice president level and below will be eligible.
This reflects ~27% of Microsoft's total workforce.
Benefits of remote work:
-More free time from having no commute
-Lower transportation expenses
-Can live anywhere in the country
-Spend more time with your family
-Can work with people around the world
-Don’t have to socialize with coworkers (be sure to get outside the house and socialize outside work hours if you do work remotely though)
I don’t get why so many people are against it. In most cases, it’s a net benefit.
My strongest “vibes not evidence” belief is that remote work is a cancer that’s making (most) people miserable even though it seems better in the short term.
