@tferriss Perfect Solution Fallacy
We reject something because it compares poorly to an ideal that in reality is unattainable.
We assume there is a perfect solution to every problem.
Reality is more complicated and trade-offs exist.
Take the option with the most bearable trade-offs.
@tferriss Cognitive Switching Penalty
Every time you switch your attention from one subject to another, you incur this penalty.
Your brain spends time and energy thrashing, loading and reloading contexts.
To avoid unproductive switching, group similar tasks together.
@tferriss The Approval Paradox
The more you want someone's approval, the harder it is to get it.
Approval seeking is a sign of insecurity and neediness, both unattractive traits.
“When you're content to simply be yourself and not compare or compete, everyone will respect you.”
—Lao Tzu
Tim Ferriss Discomfort Razor
Your success in life can be measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations you're willing to have.
Growth and comfort don't exist in the same room.
Act accordingly.

As a manager, your 1:1s with your team members are an investment that charges the “trust battery” between the two of you.
You have to take the long term view of any investment.
Each 1:1’s progress may feel small, but the compounded return in the long term is massive.
Attn #UX and #design folks looking for jobs:
Stay as far away as humanly possible from fucking assholes like these as you possibly can.
If you work, you get PAID.
PERIOD.
Do not ever accept anything less — intern, first job, whatever. I say again:
If you work, you get PAID.
“Feelings, by themselves, do not create problems.
It is rather the tendency to interpret and analyze them.
When out of habit you believe those interpretations- it is there that the suffering begins.”

@AndrewPThompso1 @legalella Sorry, got confused. To clarify Microtraumas tend to happen, eg, at the beginning of a relationship, when a narc starts dropping their sweet attitude and starts the jabs... & it slowly escalates into #majorabuse. Many victims change their behaviour to avoid these confrontations.
@defendsurvivors Also, breaking the trauma bond can be very painful and it's best to do once a person is in a safe space. We can't properly heal in the same environment in which we were traumatised, especially if we are being actively sabotaged, too. 😢 #leavetoheal
